With the roll-out of 5G networks in the UK, some home and business users that are using the TCR100 or considering the purchase of this router might want to explore the option of buying a 5G router.
We list below some of the most common 5G routers that are available for the home or office. As the TCR100 was deigned for users that want the functionality and reliability of an industrial device, we start with the obvious choice of an industrial 5G router, the Proroute RAPID NR550.
NR550
The Proroute RAPID NR550 is a dual SIM (failover) Industrial 5G Router with 4 x Gigabit Ethernet Ports and 802.11AC WiFi. It delivers a robust, reliable and secure 5G Internet connection and has the benefit of having standard SMA antenna connectors to enable the easy addition of an outdoor 5G antenna to provide the best 5G mobile network signal.
Zyxel NR5103
The Zyxel NR5103 5G Router provides an easy to use, high speed 5G mobile broadband Internet connection and has the advantage of having 4 x TS9 antenna connectors on the rear to allow for the addition af an external antenna. However, many 5G antennas have SMA connectors so you may need a TS9 to SMA Adapter.
Built in WiFi and a couple of Gigabit LAN ports make it ideal for home or office 5G mobile broadband.
5GEE Router
The EE 5G Router is just a rebadged Zyxel NR5103 so has all the same features and is liked because it has the 4 x TS9 antenna connectors so it can be used with a range of external 5G antennas and especially liked because it can use a 4×4 MiMo antenna for optimum performance.
Zyxel NR5101
The Zyxel NR5101 5G Router is probably one of the best home and office 5G routers with a lo price tag. At just £333 + VAT, the NR5101 router provides high speed WiFi 6 Hotspot for up to 64 users (802.11AX) and has 2 x Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as 2 x SMA antenna connectors on the rear for the connection of a 2×2 MiMo 5G Antenna for instances where the router is located indoors and receives a poor signal but there is a much stronger signal outdoors where a 5G antenna can be located.
The Zyxel NR5101 with SIM slot is unlocked and will work with SIM cards from all UK networks and has a great user interface which allows configuration of things like WiFi SSID, Router remote admin (assuming the sim is a fixed IP / M2M Data sim or one that gives a fixed IP address for that SIM connection). The NR5101 web GUI also provides functionality like Port Forwarding and other useful business features.
